DT | Outreach: Jasmine Road – “Choices”

Saturday, January 11 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Downtown Campus, 101 West McBee Ave.
Greenville, SC 29601 United States

Coercion through “Choice” is an innovative and engaging simulation training exercise that provides an interactive learning experience on the realities of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Participants are provided with a backstory and current situation of a hypothetical woman based on real-life experiences of local survivors of trafficking and prostitution in Greenville, SC. Participants have the opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of a survivor and make their own choices to attempt to escape and overcome obstacles many women living in Greenville face on a daily basis. The choices made by participants throughout the exercise will determine the outcome of their experience, and each participant will have a unique and individual learning opportunity. Coercion Through “Choice” illustrates the reality that prostitution is most often the “choice” for those with the fewest choices.

Downtown Campus, 101 West McBee Ave.
Greenville, SC 29601 United States

Shame is a universal issue; we all experience it, it’s just not something we talk about. It is often confused with perfectionism, people-pleasing, fear of man, or guilt. Shame is the powerful undercurrent that lurks undetected in the dark corners of our lives and shapes our day-to-day choices, actions, and relationships. Though the circumstances and experiences of shame are different for every woman, the core is the same for all: shame is an identity issue. This study will help you learn what shame is, identify the experiences, thoughts, and feelings that cause shame, how it affects you in everyday life, and how to live in the freedom and comfort Christ holds out to you.

The authors of the Bible and Jesus knew this, so it only makes sense that we should know this as well. In this installment of MRT, we will be looking at A Man and His Faith. We wrestle with issues like fear of man vs. fear of God, anger, and what it means to pursue God as men.
