Baptism is an act of obedience, commanded by Jesus and a way of publicly identifying with him. As Christ was crucified, buried, and raised to life, baptism represents that you have died to your old life (burial) and have been given a new life (resurrection). Baptism does not make you a believer, but it is a way of publicly demonstrating that you already trust in Jesus Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins.
