Getting
Married

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

The season before marriage is one of the most exciting times of life and we want to celebrate with you! More important than preparing you for your wedding, we want to equip you to have a lifelong Christ-centered marriage, built on the foundation of God’s Word and leading of the Holy Spirit.

In order to be married at Grace Church, to be married by a Grace Church pastor offsite, or participate in Bridge, you will need to take the following steps.

engaged marriage couple

“But ‘God made them male and female’ from the beginning of creation. ‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’”

Mark 10:6-8

Step

One

Read the expectations below describing premarital direction of Grace Church.

  • Both are followers of Jesus Christ and covenant members at Grace Church
  • Both believe that the marriage relationship is a covenant relationship between one man and one woman united by God in a single, exclusive life-long commitment
  • Both choose to refrain from sexual intimacy and cohabitation until after their wedding
    • If you and your fiancée are currently living together and/or are sexually intimate, we would love to have a conversation and help you move toward a Christ-centered option prior to your wedding.
  • Watch the Bridge videos in Step Two
  • Register six months (minimum) before the wedding date (see Step Two)
  • Meet with a pastor at your local campus for your Premarital Pastoral Interview (see Step Two)
  • Commit to premarital mentoring

Note: If you have questions about your specific situation, we would enjoy the opportunity to connect with you. Please contact us at bridge@grace.sc.

If you are not yet a member, please see our membership page for more information about becoming a member and to find upcoming dates for Discovery and Foundations classes.

Step

Two

Watch the Bridge videos below and schedule your Premarital Pastoral Interview (to participate in Bridge and/or to be married at Grace Church).

In preparation for your pastoral interview watch the following videos, make note of key ideas, and any personal applications. After you register, our marriage ministry coordinator or your local campus administrator will help you get connected with a pastor at your local campus for your premarital interview.

In preparation for the Pastoral Premarital Interview:

During your interview, your pastor will provide spiritual guidance and wisdom to help you move forward.

Some key aspects of the conversation will include (but not be limited to):

  • Your faith story
  • Your decision to get engaged
  • Your spiritual, emotional, and physical intimacy
  • Your results from your SYMBIS assessment

If you have any other questions, email us at Bridge@grace.sc.

Step

Three

Fill out your Wedding Application (if getting married at Grace)

Once your Pastoral Premarital Interview is completed and your wedding is approved by your responsible pastor, you will be sent a Wedding Application. After we’ve received your Wedding Application, our marriage ministry administrator will contact you to confirm your wedding date. She will then walk you through your next steps to help make it the best ceremony possible!

For questions and available dates, please contact the marriage administrator at weddings@grace.sc or 864-284-0122 ext. 105.
